Foundation - Education

Providing educational experiences for our visitors is a primary goal of Hermann Farm & Museum.  Our programs focus on:

(1) historical farming and sustainable agriculture practices,

(2) artisan methods, past and present,

(3) leadership and character education programs, and

(4) studies of the important leaders and historical events unique to the region, including the importance of Hermann to the wine making industry in America and beyond, and the impact of the Civil War.

Special programs provide young people with hands-on learning experiences in farming, animal care, artisan craft projects, such as wagon building, and, special curricula for leadership and character studies, emphasizing the personal character qualities that were essential to survival on the American frontier, and that are just as vital to success today.

Students will be encouraged to use their knowledge of the past to reflect upon the future.

A planned children’s garden will provide a special place for learning opportunities, as well as a quiet place to enjoy the beauty of the natural landscape.

Contact us for specific dates, hours, and openings.
